The Sims 4 ~ Base Game Townie Makeovers + Maxis Match CC List

After only playing Sims sporadically for a while, I decided to return to The Sims 4 (after impulsively buying the packs I was missing without consulting my poor student bank account). My original intention was to create a family starting with a rather hideous single Sim, but with all the friendly premades and random house visits from the neighbours, I couldn't help but start tweaking and giving makeovers to the ones who befriended my Sim.

*No plastic surgery was used and all of the premades’ genetic features were left untouched. The aesthetic that I am trying to achieve in my game is a smooth Maxis Match, using clay hairs and minimal CC other than makeup and default replacements. What I have changed is solely to my personal preference. :)

Liberty Lee:
At least half of my new saves end up with Liberty and her household as friends and neighbours. While she is a wonderful, goofy and friendly Sim, there was something about her appearance that struck me as cold and panda-like in the face. Something about the round eyeliner just made her eyes seem awkward. I gave her some more playful looking hair and makeup overall, picking red lips and some nose blush. I tried to combat her cold stare by using a winged eyeliner.

Summer Holiday:
Summer is an extremely friendly Sim and usually becomes one of my Sim’s best friends with little effort. She is also extremely pretty, reminiscent of a Barbie doll. There wasn't much to tweak with her; I simply felt that warm-colour makeup would work better with her skintone,  and that a wavy hairstyle could really make her seem more approachable.

Nina Caliente:

I have heard all sorts of insults thrown at Nina for her appearance, be it from forums, discussions with friends, and other blogs. In summary, people think that she’s ugly and looks like a man (which is completely not true, by the way). Nina can actually look very feminine, without any plastic surgery. I blame that melted-gloop hairstyle as the culprit for her being considered sub-par. To emphasize her femininity, I lightened the eyeshadow, and gave her big dramatic eyelashes and some more subtle lipstick.

Dina Caliente:

Nina’s twin, Dina, actually has a very angelic and sweet look to her; that horrid white lipstick just always distracted me. I've always associated light colour lips with being ill or unwell, especially with my own lips, so I’ve never really liked it very much. I tried to bring out the innate cuteness in Dina, and tried to exaggerate her doe-like eyes with some subtle eyelashes.

Katrina Caliente:
When I first played Sims 4, I was offended by Katrina. They had renamed the Caliente twins' mother, Nighat, raising her from the dead, westernizing her, making her a cougar and letting her shamelessly prance around like a mutton dressed as lamb. After she wouldn't leave my Sim alone, I realized that Katrina actually had a very elegant look to her. For Katrina, I simply made her appearance a bit more age-appropriate by using darker shades of makeup to bring out her elegance.

Zoe Patel:
The only real gripe I've ever had with Zoe is that unfortunate hairstyle that she has – it looks like some dirty chocolate fondue melted over her head. To add to the makeover, I also changed her eyeshadow from a light to a medium colour and gave her some eyelashes to bring out her eye shape. I also swapped out the super glossy lipstick for a matte one that suited her skintone a little better.

Alice Spencer- Kim:
Alice is one of those unavoidable Sims that appears on any given lot, at any given time, for any available NPC job. No matter where you go, she and her base game hairstyle will show up, either for work or for pleasure. Her look is very au natural, with no actual makeup by default. I wanted to keep her natural look but made a few tweaks. I used a very thin eyeliner to bring out her monolid eyes and used some low opacity lipstick to show off the shape of her lips. Using a warm pink subtle blush, I tried to prevent her skin from looking muddy or flat by suggesting the contours.

The Sims Freeplay ~ Charming Barber Hair Event Quest Walkthrough + Tips

I'm back with another Hair post >.> (I feel like the only time I ever play Freeplay anymore is to do these hair events)

I have been absent from The Sims Freeplay for most of the year, but logged in yesterday to find that there was a new hair event for males! It's called the Charming Barber Hair event.

There are a total of 8 hairs (shown below) and are unlocked in the same fashion as the Ringlets of Fire and Boutique Hair events before it (using the Fashion Design hobby) Additionally, the hairstyles are unlocked in a random order. They come in the same natural and unnatural colours as the Boutique Hair Event. These new hairs are really nice; they have this "125% chance of stealing your girl" type of quality to them.

Review from Previous Guide:
  • To start, you must have access to the fashion design hobby.
  • To unlock a hairstyle, you must complete the entire collection of fashion design collectibles.
  • Completing the entire collection requires at least 1 Sim who has maxed out the fashion design skill.
  • You must reset the collection to get the next hairstyle - otherwise your Sims' hard earned fashions will not count towards the next.
  • The quest ends when the timer ends - it may come back in the future though!
General Tips:

  • Try to keep your Sims in a good mood (Singing salmon, if you have them, are a great asset to have)
  • Some collectibles are just tricky to get - you might just be unlucky. (For me, the Chi Chi heels on the last row was taking hours!) The best way to go about this is to just get more Sims designing.
  • You only need to max one Sim's fashion skill, so don't bother trying to train everybody.
  • Design Fashion (10 minutes) is the best choice but a little more micro-managing may be required.
  • The more Sims working on fashion design, the better.
  • Placing multiple design stations in a single building makes for faster designing and collecting.
  • The hairstyles are unlocked in a random order - your favourite may be the last one unlocked D:

Glossary of Hairs:
Below is a list with pictures of all of the hairstyles with their names and pictures, in order as they appear in the event screen.

1. Careless Murmur

2. Prince Charming

3. Many Directions

4. City Slicker

5. Dashing Afro

6. Lord Commander

7. Knotted Rogue

8. Top Dreads

Final Thoughts:
I actually felt that this event was more achievable than the others; I managed to unlock 5 of them in one day. The items on the final line of items were the hardest to get by far, as usual, and the only tip I can really give on getting those damned chi-chi heels is to be persistent.

Tips:

  • The more Sims practicing fashion design, the more chances you get at receiving pieces you need.
  • Unless you have yet to have a single Sim (dead or alive) reach level 6 of the Fashion Design hobby, don't bother with the longer options and choose "Design Fashion" for 10 minutes at a time.
  • Save your LP - the LP roll option often gives you a piece that you already own.
  • Be persistent

I would like to see more hair events, perhaps for children, teens, or elders next time, as their CAS items are more limited.

Happy Simming,
Y

The Sims Freeplay ~ Sleepwear Event Guide + Glossary of Pajamas

I feel like I'm always late to the party when it comes to these events, since I play PC Sims games far more and was taking a break from Freeplay recently. I'm not sure how many days are given to this event exactly, but when I began there were about 6 days left and 5 packs still to unlock x_x This is a timed event from EA, where the entire community is working on this as a secondary quest until the time expires.

Nevertheless, I love writing about the unlocks and making image glossaries of the prizes, so I hope this helps in some way.

The Sims Freeplay ~ Boutique Hair Event Quest Walkthrough + Tips

Hello Simmers :)

As some of my readers will already know, about a year ago, I "retired" from playing The Sims Freeplay because I didn't like the LP business model. I switched to primarily playing The Sims 3, and still do. In the past few days, I've been receiving requests to do another quest guide with a glossary. So I've crawled out of retirement (even if only briefly) to write another hair guide! I hope this helps you in some way or another. :)

To be honest, I had so much schoolwork and had to attend the symphony orchestra for a project (I'm in University for Music), that I missed out on the entire event except for the final day (Around 23 hours remain!). I'm still out of the loop of things, so please excuse me if I get something wrong...

Part of this blog post is just seeing if I've got it in me to complete this event before time's up :O As a Simmer who is in love with any new hairstyles or fashions, this is a perfect reason to come back to Freeplay, at least for 23 hours >.>.
